As you know, A good URL for SEO are short. Top-ranking pages have shorter URLs. Position 1 URLs average 59 characters long.
By default, WordPress uses ‘?p=[id]‘ permalinks for posts. This is not search engine friendly and you’ll lose the opportunity to put a few important keywords in post permalinks if you don’t switch to a text-based permalink structure. I prefer the ‘yourdomain.com/year/month/post-name/‘ format, but you may choose any other similar structure.
Example: This is a permalink http://nz-review.com/2018/09/10/viddyoze-template-club-review/
You can see this permalink include domain name + day and post name, this url is too long.
WordPress offers you the ability to create a custom URL structure for your permalinks and archives. Custom URL structures can improve the aesthetics, usability, and forward-compatibility of your links. A number of tags are available, and here are some examples to get you started.
Available tags:
- Plain
- Day and Name
- Month and Name
- Numberic
- Post name
How to customize a URL?
Step1: Log in WordPress admin
Step2: Go to Settings > permalinks.
Step3: In screen Permalik Settings > Common settings to select a available tag
Example: In order to create URL as http://nz-review.com/viddyoze-template-club-review/, we will select available tag is Post name.
